About
Leadership is ultimately about people
Many leaders are promoted because they’re technically excellent at what they do.
But leading people requires something different - the ability to communicate clearly, navigate complexity, build trust and support others to perform at their best.
These human capabilities are rarely taught, yet they sit at the heart of effective leadership.
My work focuses on helping emerging and ambitious leaders develop these skills so they can lead confidently, build strong teams and create environments where people perform well and grow.
My approach
Everything I do is grounded in the belief that human performance and leadership are inseparable.
When leaders develop strong self-awareness, emotional intelligence and communication skills, they create teams that are healthier, more resilient and more effective.
This belief underpins my Human Performance Leadership Framework™, which focuses on developing the core capabilities that allow leaders to perform sustainably while building high-performing teams.
My work combines leadership coaching, facilitated learning and behavioural insight to support leaders in developing these skills in a practical, meaningful way.
Why this work matters to me
Before becoming a leadership coach, I spent more than two decades working as a veterinary surgeon in fast-paced, high-pressure environments where teamwork, communication and trust were critical.
In those environments, the quality of leadership and collaboration had very real consequences. When teams worked well together, people thrived and outcomes improved. When communication broke down, the impact was significant and long lasting.
Over time, I experienced first-hand how powerful, and how fragile, team dynamics can be.
I also came to a personal realisation that shaped the direction of my career.
Like many professionals working in demanding environments, I experienced burnout. But the cause was not the pressure of the work itself.
It was the impact of poor leadership and management.
That realisation reinforced something that remains central to my work today: technical expertise alone is never enough for effective leadership.
Leaders need the human skills that allow people and teams to function well together.
What I bring to my work
Clients often tell me that the value of our work together lies in the balance between challenge and support.
I bring a calm, thoughtful approach to leadership development while also asking the questions that help people think differently about how they lead.
My role isn’t to give leaders a script for how to behave.
It’s to help them develop the awareness, confidence and capability to lead authentically and effectively in their own context.
I’m a certified personal performance coach and DISC behavioural profiling practitioner, accredited through The Coaching Academy.
My work combines:
This allows me to support leaders both individually and within the wider team and organisation.
Who I work with
I primarily work with:
Emerging and aspiring leaders
Newly promoted managers
Experienced professionals stepping into leadership roles
Organisations investing in developing their future leadership pipeline
These leaders often have strong technical expertise and high potential but are navigating the complex transition into leading people with little or no coaching or training.
Supporting them at this stage allows organisations to build stronger leadership capability early, rather than trying to repair the effects of poor leadership later.
